SLAM is a non-profit educational network of public college-preparatory charter schools serving students throughout the nation. Our mission is to provide an engaging, challenging and supportive learning environment that will motivate all students to be the best they can be in and out of the classroom and prepare them for future success. SLAM Academies engage all students in:

SLAM integrates national Common Core Standards and sports-related themes into a core curriculum of Mathematics, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. The rigorous curricular program engages students in the learning process by leveraging their love for sports, making learning meaningful and relevant.

Opening in Apollo Beach in a new state-of-the art facility, the K-8 program features:

  • Character education and mindfulness programs
  • Computer science, music and visual arts electives
  • STEM and Technology integration programs
  • Career exploration and mentorship programs
  • Extracurricular clubs, activities and athletic programs

At the middle school level, students explore careers in Sports Medicine, Broadcasting and Media Production, Marketing, Arts and Management through elective courses.

Middle school students can earn college credits through SLAM’s robust dual enrollment and advanced placement programs.

All students benefit from real-world learning experiences and career mentorships sponsored by local and national partners in both sports and STEM-related industries.



In 2017, 96 percent of SLAM graduates matriculated to a college or university. SLAM also achieved a 97% College and Career Acceleration Rate making it one of the highest ranking high schools in Florida for this component of the State’s Accountability System.


SLAM defines “sports” as a pathway for students to engage in positive competition in and out of the classroom allowing them to experience dealing with success, challenges and teamwork.
